Mrs. Yolanda Handel (nee Nieto), of Wrentham, MA and formerly of Kearny, NJ passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019.
Relatives and friends may visit in the Condon Funeral Home 684 Kearny Ave., Kearny, NJ on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 4-8pm. The funeral Mass will be offered at 10am in St. Cecilia's Church, Kearny on Saturday, January 4, 2020. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, No. Arlington, NJ.
Mrs. Handel was born in Mexico City on January 26,1923 and came to the United States with her family when she was 4 years old in 1927. She lived in Jersey City where she attended St. Nicholas School and Dickinson High School. After graduating high school, she attended secretarial school and worked for Lojas Americanas. She married Anton Joseph Handel on April 16, 1955, when she moved to Kearny, and was a homemaker and mother.
In 1967 Yolanda returned to work as a secretary for the Robert Treat Hotel, then Bach & Company and finally for Coopers & Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers) until her retirement in 1989. In 1976 Yolanda and Anton moved to Madison, NJ and later moved to Manchester, NJ. They were married for 51 years until Anton's passing on Nov. 6, 2006, when she moved to Massuchusetts to live near her son, Gregory Handel. She passed peacefully at Maples Nursing Home in Wrentham, MA with her son, Greg, at her bedside.
She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers and two sisters-in-law. She is survived by her two sons, Greg and Tom, two daughters-in-law, Mary Ann and Andrea, and seven grandchildren, Natalie, Nicole, Anton, Stuart, Sophia, John and Jake, and her sister-in-law Frances.
