We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Condon Funeral Home
Mrs. Elaine Neumann, 80, of Kearny passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022 in Roseland with her son and daughter by her side.
Wife of the late Fred Neumann, Elaine is survived by her loving children, son John Neumann and his wife Karilyn, daughter Dawn Neumann, as well as two grandchildren on whom she doted, Morgan and Richard S. Thoma. Also surviving are her cherished sisters, Maureen Gavron-Fagan, Joan Macaluso and Carol Lazarus, their spouses Richard Fagan, Michael Macaluso, and William Lazarus, as well as a niece, 2 nephews, and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Elaine was born in Newark to John and Anna (nee Stypa) Gavron. She grew up on Johnston Ave. in Kearny and graduated from St. Cecilia’s High School.
Along with many members of her family, Elaine spent many hours while growing up working in the family candy store, known in the neighborhood as “Happy’s”.
She married Fred in 1963, and later went on to become a fixture at Savage Hardware for many years. The joy of Elaine’s life was in spending time with her husband and her children, and you could often spot her chuckling with her sisters. All, usually, with an overflowing cup of coffee. In retirement, Elaine remained in Kearny, enjoying taking long drives with her beloved husband, and spoiling her grandchildren.
Family and friends are welcome to visit on Sunday, March 20, 4-8pm in the Condon Funeral Home, 684 Kearny Avenue, Kearny.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, March 21, at 10am in St. Stephen’s Church in Kearny. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, No. Arlington.
