Katira Agosto Torres Garrett

November 20, 2021

Katira Agosto Torres Garrett was affectionately known as “Kat”. Kat was born July 12, 1985, in Manhattan, New York to Sonia Torres and Geraldo Agosto. She attended the Kearny school system where she graduated high school. She is proceeded in death by her brother Yadiel Agosto.

Katira was employed with Pathmark of New Jersey for 10 plus years where she started her career as a cashier and ended her time as a regional manager when the Pathmark organization closed their doors. At her time of death, Kat was employed as a lost prevention manager with Bed Bath and Beyond in Carteret, New Jersey for four years.

Kat really enjoyed shopping. She was a girly girl. She would spend countless hours shopping with her best friend Jennifer, her sisters Kim and Kiara, and daughters Kaia and Luv. If there was a store with clothes and shoes Kat and Jennifer were there. Kat also enjoyed the beach and the sun. She made weekly family trips to the Jersey Shore during the summer, where she would live, love, laugh, and play in the sand. Kat took pride in her appearance and loved make-up. Her face and eyebrows were always beautifully made up. Katira loved and adored her husband. They both found the love of their lives. Katira was very excited about becoming Mrs. Garrett as it showed while she planned her wedding day. Kat also enjoyed vacationing with her husband and family. She would always tell Darrell “We need a vacation” and off they went. Her recent trip to Nassau Bahamas reflected just how much she enjoyed vacationing. Although Katira loved everything mentioned above there was one thing she loved most and that was family. Kat took care of her family with such grace and poise. Katira loved to laugh and joke with her mother and sisters. You could always find her at her mother’s house being the loving and doting daughter and sister she was. She always made sure everyone around her was ok. Katira loved her dog GG (Ginger Garrett). She spent so much time making Ginger look beautiful just like she was.

She departed this life on November 20, 2021. Katira is survived by her husband Darrell Eugene Garrett, Her mother Sonia Torres and stepfather Ricardo Tapia, Father Geraldo Agosto and stepmother Edna Agosto, maternal grandmother Lydia Marin, brother Christian Agosto, sisters Kimberly and Kiara Tapia, daughters Kaia and Luv Garrett, stepson Elijah Garrett, mother-in-law Shirley Brewton, Best friend Jennifer Guerra, Sister-in-law Rashidah Garrett- Hall, Karen Muhammad, Kimberlee and Jenean Mack, brother-in-law Malik Brewton and Jamal Mack, and a host of nieces and nephews.
